When it comes to organising your home, there is no one size fits all. However, there are a few well-tried strategies that generally work for everyone. If you’re unsure whether to give these a go, then AAA Supershine is always on hand to assist you in organising your home in a way that works for you. Having your home organised can save you heaps of time and stress since having this on hand and where you expect them means you are less likely to buy things twice or spend hours looking for that shampoo bar you are so sure you bought last week.
1. Used laundry basket
In addition to a dirty laundry basket in the bathroom, also keep one in the bedroom. There is little that screams mess and clutter like dirty clothes strewn across the floor or hanging off random pieces of furniture. Keep an open basket that is easy to access at all times.
2. Purge what you don’t use
The fact is, we probably only use around a fifth of what we have. Try not to hold onto things that are no longer useful. They will affect the organisation of your home, and make it more costly to store your belongings
3. Organise your drawers
Every draw in your house should have a drawer organizer on it. This helps you make the most of the space inside. In addition, the drawers in your bedroom should be allocated for specific things. A good way of starting to allocate the top one for underwear, then for socks, and then for pants and hats.
4. Keep a donation bag
Things that look unflattering or you don’t quite love, may not change shape or size overnight. If you have items you have not worn in the past 18 months or even more, then chances are, you probably will not wear them again. Let go of things easily, and you will breathe easier in the newfound space you have.
Similarly, if you have friends or family who like to pass your clothes or items they do not use then think carefully before accepting them. If they are not going to be useful to you, then be wary of accepting them for the sake of it.
5. Make things easily accessible
There will be some items you use very regularly, probably even daily. Keep these items in easily accessible places in open-top containers. This will make it easier for you to put things in their correct places again since you have minimized the steps it takes to put them away.
6. Keep surfaces clear
Whether it is the dining table, or surfaces in the bedroom or kitchen, the fact is, flat surfaces can easily accumulate clutter. Make it a habit to declutter surfaces every evening and you will be thankful in the morning.
